Mission
The
Boston Children Centre aims to provide a well rounded education and
provide general upkeep for all orphans, destitute and vulnerable
children in Quarry and Matopeni Villages with little cost, thus
providing opportunities for the neediest children from both villages to
escape poverty, to have access to meaningful employment and to lead
fulfilling lives. |

|
Hundreds
of children in the Matopeni and Quarry slum face illiteracy, culturally
accepted abuse, homelessness and starvation. Our aim is to ensure
the well being and improve the quality of life of the children of
Quarry through education. How those children fare as a whole depends
not only on their access to education and vocational skills, but also
on the satisfaction of their basic needs. The staff of Quarry strive to
give equal attention to all orphans by catering to their spiritual,
physical, intellectual, social and emotional needs regardless of gender
or religion. This includes secondary and vocational programs that
target older children and seek to provide orphans with skills, such as
information technology, woodworking and sewing , useful and
necessary skills that will help the children become productive and self
reliant members of the community. |

|
The
vision of starting a sponsorship program in Quarry was to have an
organization which can serve the poor and disadvantaged children
from this impoverished community who drop out of school due to lack of
school uniforms and other scholastic materials. The orphans who have
lost their parents to the HIV/AIDS pandemic as well as other causes of
death, destitute children who are pushed to the streets due to economic
constraints affecting their families. |
|

|
In
addition, there is an interest in rescuing children from child labor
especially in the nearby quarry and also from domestic work. To meet
the development goal contained in the millennium declaration of
achieving universal primary education ensuring that by 2015 Matopeni
/Quarry Orphans and children everywhere, boys and girls alike will be
able to complete a full course of primary school. |
 |
|

|
Improving
all aspects of the quality of education and ensuring the excellence of
all so that recognized and measurable learning outcomes are achieved by
all, especially outcomes in literacy and essential life skills, is thus
a key part of the vision shared by everyone who is promoting and
assisting Sponsor quarry child Values. |
|
| |
The
availability of a quality education in Matopeni/Quarry villages will
enhance equal development opportunities for both the very needy and the
well-to-do. Adoption of the Children's Act, in 2001, which recognizes
that education is a basic human right for all children has eased the
promotion of school-community partnership by encouraging the
utilization of school based community activities and involving parents
and guardians in school development programs. The community is
sensitive to the benefits of education for all children, adding to and
enhancing existing affirmative actions to encourage girls'
participation in primary school. |
|
| |
Education
is the cornerstone of the our two villages (Matopeni and Quarry). The
school believes that orphans and destitute children should be given the
opportunity to have a proper education, a fundamental right that should
be provided for every human being. Despite the children's unfortunate
circumstances and abandonment, they should not be denied the chance to
learn to improve their future. |
